Day 12 & 13 - Rome!
Rome was the last stop on this amazing trip. We definitely ended with a bang. We took a bus tour and walked so much. I can't even begin to tell you the level of stamina involved in seeing all of Rome in less than 2 days... but we did it!
First stop... Gelatto at the Trevi Fountain!
The legend is if you throw a coin into the fountain with your right hand crossing your heart over your left shoulder then you will return to Rome! It also states that if you throw 2 coins you will find an Italian love, three coins and you will have a divorce and 4 coins means your mother in law will die. If you really think about this it makes no logical sense. But no worries... I threw only one!
The Pantheon
Piazza Navona
View of the Vatican at night!
The Colosseum
The Roman Forum
View of St. Peter's Basilica
Inside the Vatican Museum... there were many parts we couldn't photograph, including the Sistine Chapel.
Inside St. Peter's Basilica
Michelangelo's Pieta
Tomb of Pope John Paul II
This is not a painting, its a mosaic. Astonishing!
Alter at the center... this is completely made of bronze!
Some dead Pope is a Santa suit... a little disturbing.
The Swiss guards outside the Pope's quarters.
